Bobby pleaded guilty to the charges that they read
As they led him from the courtroom
A young voice turned his head
A little boy dressed in blue, was standing at the rail
He said, “I hope they kill you, I hope you go to hell”
They locked Bobby in jail with forty other men
They all knew what he had done
And they were glad to take him in
They’d all seen the headlines about Bobby and his wife
How they loved each other, and how he took her life
Day after day, he sat alone
Night after night, they’d hear him sing his song (he’d sing)
[chorus]
Baby, I’ll take care of you, I’ll never let you down
No harm will ever come to you as long as I'm around
I am not afraid of what people say or do
The only thing I fear is being here, without you
The little boy dressed in blue, grew up to be a man
When he fell in love himself, he came to understand
How it was that Bobby took the life they both adored
Cause Bobby couldn’t stand to see her suffer anymore
He took out the papers from the trunk beneath his bed
And all the years just disappeared
As through his tears, he read
The stories of the accident that robbed his Mama’s mind
the man who held her in his arms and chose to cut the line
And the one about the man who sits alone
Year after year, singing his song
[chorus]
Baby, I’ll take care of you, I’ll never let you down
No harm will ever come to you as long as I'm around
I am not afraid of what people say or do
The only thing I fear is being here, without you
The young man drove his car up and parked outside the gate
They lead him to a cold grey room, the guard told him to wait
When the guard brought Bobby in, the young man finally knew
He still missed his mama, but he missed his Daddy too
when the guard left the two of them alone
He took Bobby in his arms, and the young man sang the song
Daddy, I'll take care of you, I'll never let you down
No harm will ever come to you as long as I'm around
You have taught me not to fear what people say or do
The only thing that hurts is being here, without you

Now I've never been in with the fast crowd
I've never been closer than just a little over the line
I know those nights I'd find great temptations
I go home to bed alone
Pull the covers up over my mind
I let it go by and said I'd save my feelings
But until I met you
I hardly used them at all
I should say no
Oh whoah I don't want to
Honey you will be the first one
To watch this angel fall
So you can take the wings off me
Lay them down so carefully
Hold me close tonight you'll see
I am yours and you can take the wings off me
Oh you can take the wings off me
Oh lay them down so carefully
Oh I should say no
Oh whoah I don't want to
I am yours and you can take the wings off me

You spend an awful lot of time in Massachusetts
Seems Like every other week you've got a meeting waiting there
Business must be booming or could something else
Be moving in the air up there
You say that its important for our future
An executive on his way up has got to play the part
Each time duty calls you got to give it all
You've got with all your heart
When whoever's in New England is through with you
And Boston finds better things to do
You know its not too late 'cause you'll always have a place to come back to
When whoever's in New Englands through with you
I hear the winter time up north can last forever
Ive been told its beautiful to see this time of year
They say the snow can blind you till the world you left behind
Just disappears I hear
I packed your bags and left them in the hallway
But before you leave again theres just one thing you outta know
When the icy winds blow through you remember that its me
Who feels the cold most of all
When whoever's in New England is through with you
And Boston finds better things to do
You know its not too late 'cause you'll always have a place to come back to
When whoever's in New Englands through with you

I changed my number
Bought some new clothes
Got some different records
And a new ?
I'm gettin over you
I'm gettin over you
I'm going out dancing
Learning new jokes
I'm staying out later
Than I should I suppose
But I'm gettin over you
I'm gettin over you
I took our name off the mailbox
Redecorated our room
I'm not saying the hurtin's all gone
But it'll be gone soon
Chorus:
I'm gettin over you
So what if you're not here
I'm gettin' over you
And it'll happen one of these years
I ordered make-up
From Vogue magazine
I'm taking aerobics two nights a week
And I'm getting over you
Oh I'm getting over you
I'm gettin' over you
I'm gettin' over you
My friends come over
And they wonder why
Your picture's back on the wall
Instead of proving losing you
Don't bother me at all
Repeat Chorus
I'm gettin over you
Oh I'm gettin over you

On Monday the sun really shines
On Tuesday the weather was fine
Wednesday and Thursday went by
By Friday the clouds filled the sky
This morning I knew it would rain
The moment the telephone rang
I heard your voice and I knew
The sky turned a new shade of blue
And it looks like rain
It always rains on Saturday
The dark clouds came
And the sunny days are gone away
This house feels so cold
It always feels like this
When he goes away
There is really nothing new about the rain
It always rains on Saturday
(interlude)
I look into Billy's young smile
And watch him watch BIg Bird awhile
His daddy will be here by eight
Seems like the sky's turning grey
There's an overnight bag on the stairs
Beside an one-eyed teddy bear
I hold Billy and try not to cry
And whisper "Kiss mommy goodbye"
And it looks like rain
It always rains on Saturdays
The dark clouds came
And the sunny days are gone away
This house feels so cold
It always feels like this
When Billy goes away
There is really nothing new about the rain
It always rains on Saturdays

I watch you as you wake and rub your eyes and try to hide them from the
morning sun
I whisper how ya doing and you smile and say so tenderly good morning
hun
Chorus:
Last night you made his memory fade a little
You helped me see how love can still be right
I wish you didn't have to leave
If you just knew how much I need
Last night, ev'ry night
I know you have to catch a plane to Memphis
And you mentioned it's an early flight
You start to pack
And while I comb my hair
I stare at you and think about last night
Cause (Repeat Chorus)
I slip into my robe to go make coffee
You come in and pull me close to you
And as I feel your tender kiss
I whisper can't Memphis wait a day or two
Cause (Repeat Chorus)
Cause (Repeat Chorus)

I'm dreaming tonight of the place I love
Even more then I usually do
And although I know it's a long road back
This I promise you
Well, I'll be home for Christmas
You can plan on me
So please have snow and lots of mistletoe
And presents under the tree
Oh Christmas Eve will find me
Where the love life is
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams
You know Christmas Eve will find me
Where the love life is
Darling I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams
Oh if only in my dreams

You said you were out with a friend
Well your friend left her lipstick in your car again
That mark on your neck didn't get there from shaving
I got a feeling you've been misbehaving
Chorus:
So give me one good reason why I should stay
Just one good reason not to walk away
Must be open season on cheating man-a-tease
And why do you do me this way
Just give me one good reason to stay
And I'll stay
You tell me your love is true
Well is that what you tell all the other girls too
You can't tell the truth babe
You're not even trying
I got a feeling you're just alibing
Repeat Chorus x4

Sometimes you treat me so cruel.
I don't think I can take it.
Sometimes you hurt me so bad, I just wanna die.
But in a moment like this.
With a tender touch and a lover's kiss,
You put all of my
pain aside and I say to you with my eyes,
Do right by me and make it last forever.
Tonight I need to be here in your arms.
Where the hurting ends and the love begins.
Do right by me and I'll never do you wrong.
It feels so good to be so close like we were when
we started Oooh back when the troubles were few
and the loving was blind.
Funny how people so close Know the things to
say that can hurt the most.
Baby why can't we just be kind and capture this moment in time.
Repeat Chorus

Of all the broken hearts I've had
This one hurts the worst
His love flowed like a river
Now I'm dying of thirst
If loving him too much is why
I lost him in the end
Then I hope I can live long enough
To make that same mistake again
Well they say that love can be so strong that it's the choking kind
I never thought I'd see the day when love would be a crime
Mistakes can cost a lot and it
Sometimes we lose to win
Oh I hope I can live long enough
To make that same mistake again
Oh I may go crazy missing him
Knowing that it's my fault
But how could I have loved him less
Oh I tremble at the thought
And it's amazing how I'm holding on
With the shape I'm in
Oh I hope that I can live long enough
To make that same mistake again
