The sun is shining down
There's not one cloud around
Morning hits me
Where I lay
Everything was green
A perfect day it seems
Yeah he's got everything his way
Oh but I've seen better days
I've seen better days
Chorus:
When the rain was pouring down
And he had his loving arms wrapped around me
I've seen better days
The neighbors come and go
They smile and wave hello
And all the kids are out to play
Lollipops and good times
They look so much like mine
But he has taken mine away
Oh and I've seen better days
Lord I've seen better days
Repeat Chorus
Oh Lord I miss 'em
I've seen better days

She's quiet this morning
She can't say why
Sends her husband off to work
With a kiss goodbye
Unlocks that old diary
Turns to the third of May
Adds another tear to the page
And it's lonely being the only one
Who knows the truth
[chorus]
She has a secret
That she can never tell
One wrong decision
Still puts her heart through hell
Does he miss her
Did he forgive her
The love that they shared will
Always be a secret
Only she knows, she still loves him
And she hates the choice she made
Wishes she could find him
Tell him why she walked away
Every day gets harder, livin' with herself
But she knew he'd be better off, raised by someone else
God, it's lonely being the only one
Who knows the truth
[chorus]
She unlocks that old diary
Turns to the third of May
Adds another tear to the page

It happened one day near December's end,
Two neighbors called on an old friend.
And they found his shop so meager and lean
Made gay with thousand bows of green
And Conrad was sitting with face a-shine
When he suddenly stopped as he stitched a twine
And he said "Old friends, at dawn today,
When the cock was crowing the night away
The Lord appeared in a dream to me
And said "I'm coming your guest to be."
So I've been busy with feet astir
Strewing my shop with branches of fern.
The table is spread and the kettle is shined.
And over the rafters the holly is twined.
Now I'll wait for my Lord to appear
And listen closely so I will hear
His step as He nears my humble place.
And I'll open the door and look on His face.
So his friends went home and left Conrad alone
For this was the happiest day he had known,
For long since, his family had passed away
And Conrad had spent many a sad Christmas Day.
But he knew with the Lord as his Christmas Guest
This Christmas would be the dearest and best.
So he listened with only joy in his heart
And with every sound he would rise with a start
And look for the Lord to be at his door.
Like the vision he had had a few hours before.
So he ran to the window after hearing a sound
But all he could see on the snow covered ground
Was a shabby beggar whose shoes were torn
And all of his clothes were ragged and worn.
But Conrad was touched and he went to the door
And he said, "You know, your feet must be frozen and sore.
I have some shoes in my shop for you
And a coat that will keep you warmer too."
So with grateful heart the man went away
but Conrad noticed the time of day
And wondered what made the Lord so late
And how much longer he'd have to wait.
When he heard a knock, he ran to the door
But it was only a stranger once more.
A bent old lady with a shawl of black
With a bundle of kindling piled on her back.
She asked for only a place to rest
But that was reserved for Conrad's Great Guest.
But her voice seemed to plead "Don't send me away,
Let me rest for awhile on Christmas Day",
So Conrad brewed her a steaming cup
And told her to sit at the table and sup.
But after she left he was filled with dismay
For he saw that the hours were slipping away
And the Lord hadn't come as he said he would.
Then Conrad felt sure he had misunderstood.
When out of the stillness he heard a cry
“Please help me and tell me where am I?"
So again he opened his friendly door
And stood disappointed as twice before.
It was only a child who’d wandered away
And was lost from her family on Christmas Day.
Again Conrad's heart was heavy and sad
But he knew he should make the little girl glad.
So he called her in and he wiped her tears
And quieted all her childish fears.
Then he led her back to her home once more
But as he entered his own darkened door
he knew the Lord was not coming today.
For the hours of Christmas had passed away
So he went to his room and knelt down to pray
And he said "Dear Lord, why did you delay?
What kept you from coming to call on me?
For I wanted so much your face to see.”
When soft in the silence a voice he heard.
"Lift up your head for I kept my word.
Three times my shadow crossed your floor
And three times I came to your lonely door.
I was the beggar with bruised, cold feet
And I was the woman you gave something to eat.
I was the child on the homeless street.
Three times I knocked, and three times I came in.
And each time I found the warmth of a friend.
Of all the gifts, love is the best.
And I was honored to be your Christmas Guest.

The first time I laid my eyes on you I knew,
We'd spend this life side by side.
I still feel the same though your so far away,
I swear that you'll always be my....
Forever love
I promise you,
someday we'll be together,
Forever love.
I won't give up.
No matter what...
I'll be waiting for you
Forever love...
Minutes and hours and years may go by,
but my heart knows nothing of time.
So don't cry just keep me right there in your dreams.
And hold on to these words of mine...
Forever love
I promise you,
someday we'll be together,
Forever love.
I won't give up.
No matter what...
I'll be waiting for you
Forever love...
...is a road to our destiny,
nothing can change what is meant to be...
Forever love...
I won't give up.
No matter what...
I'll be waiting for you
Forever love...
I'll be waiting for you
Forever love...
Forever love...

He's tall dark and dangerous
He's a love thief on the run
He's a moonlight bandit
Brother to the devil's son
He'll cover you with sweet talk
Tell you what you want to hear
Then he'll take your smiling face
And he'll cover it with tears
Oh they call him poison sugar
Cause there's poison in his kiss
Oh you ladies warn your daughters
About the stranger with the poison lips
His hands warm your body like the morning Georgia sun
You'll think you found forever in his arms before he's done
With honey dripping off his words
Your passion takes him home
His lying lips won't tell you
You'll be waking up alone
Repeat Chorus
You could find him on a dark street
You could meet him at the store
He could even wake you up
Knocking on your door
Well, I'm talking from experience
I'm a victim of his kiss
I'm just one of the many
He's loved and left like this
Repeat Chorus x3

The stars are way out of reach, they all said
Those are crazy schemes that fill your fool head
But it was clear from the moment we met
We could prove them wrong
All my life I heard that same old story
Dare to dream and you'll just be sorry
I might have given up my shot at glory
But then you came along
Chorus:
We're not expecting this to go down easy
We're not expecting any sweet dreams
Sure thing
But with a little luck
Could be we'll be
Winding up the way we planned
Heading for our promised land
Holding one last good hand
Something's calling us I know you hear it
Day by day I feel us growing near it
But once you find a kindred spirit
There's nothing you can do
Oh, baby I'm not saying we won't ever stumble
Some days will be rough and tumble
You and I know that life's a gamble
But I'll
Bet mine on you
Repeat Chorus:

She can account for all of the men in her past
Where they are now, who they married, how many kids they have
She knew their backgrounds, family and friends
Oh, a few she even talks to now and then
But there is one, she can't put her finger on
There is one who never leaves her thoughts
And she thinks his name was John
A chance meeting, a party a few years back
Broad shoulders and blue eyes, his hair was so black
He was a friend of a friend, you could say
She let his smile just sweep her away
And in her heart, though she knew that it was wrong
But too much wine and she left his bed at dawn
And she thinks his name was John
Now each day is one day that's left in her life
She won't know love, have a marriage, or sing lullabys
She lays all alone and cries herself to sleep
She let a stranger kill her hopes and her dreams
And all her friends say "What a pity, what a loss"
And in the end when she was barely hanging on
All she could say is she thinks his name was John
She thinks his name was John

Don't tell me that time will ease the pain
Don't tell me the sunshines after the rain
Don't sit there and tell me
I'll love again someday
Whose heartache is this anyway
Don't say that all things happen
For the best
And don't talk of silver linings
Don't tell me I'll forget
Don't say don't you worry
Cause everything will be OK
Whose heartache is this anyway
Chorus:
Cause I'm not in the mood for sympathy
At least not from the one who's leaving me
So don't try to make it easy
Don't search for words to say
Whose heartache is this anyway
Well you say that'll always care for me
That I'll always be special
Well that's not what I need
So why don't you just go now
You've done enough today
And whose heartache is this anyway
Repeat Chorus
Why don't you just go now
You've done enough today
And whose heartache is this anyway

(chorus)
How blue can you make me?
How long till I heal?
How can I go on lovin you when you're gone?
How blue can I feel?
Oh honey why did you leave me?
Ain't you go a heart left in your chest?
I swear to you that I'm dyin
Cause my mind won't let my body rest
(chorus)
If I sink any lower, I'll go under
If I cry anymore, I'll go blind
Lord there ain't no relief
For this 'missing you' grief
How long can you torture my mind?
(chorus)
How can I go on lovin you when you're gone?
How blue can I feel?

Congratulations
You made a fool out of me
I hope you're happy
So now just let me be
I might be slow to lovers
But I catch on eventually
Congratulations
You made a fool out of me
Anticipation
You kept me waiting in line
Your situation did not allow you time
So I'd sit home alone
Pretending someday you'd be mine
Congratulations
You made a fool of me this time
Then he played it smart
You stole my heart
And tore my world apart
Guess you always knew
I'd be the perfect fool
Congratulations baby
You win, I lose
Imagination
The way I dreamed it could be
Ooo, the sweetest sensation
Of how you made love to me
But now the vision's gone
It's time to face reality
Congratulations
You made a fool out of me
Congratulations
You made a fool out of me
