Well day by day
And night by night
Wanna learn how to love you babe
Till I get it right
Yeah day by day and night by night
Come on and join the dance
I t goes round and round
Until the things you've lost
Become the things you've found
Day by day and night by night
Now piece by piece
And bit by bit
I can see the target
I've got to try to hit
Piece by piece and bit by bit.
I tell you sweet singing sister
Gonna love you till I'm blistered and blue
Cos you're making what I'm shaking
Harder than the big bamboo
But although I'm digging singing babe
I really have to sing it with you
Sing it day by day
And night by night?

A lot of things can happen
When you're walking down the street
But it never fails to amaze me
When people that I meet
Say, well I'll see you later..
I just answer how?
How will you see me later
When you can't see me now?
Hulloooo

Woke up this morning
I went out on the street
Sniffed a few flowers then I went back to sleep
My head was cloudy but the sky was blue
And I didn't feel lonely till I thought of you
Later that evening I knocked on your door
Asked how you're feel ing
You said you weren't sure
Took off your costume and you lay on the bed
And I came down beside you with the moon in my head
I whispered nothing sweetly in your ear
I played the music that you like to hear
I held you tightly but you slipped right through
And I was left holding someone but I didn't know who
Maybe I'm crazy and I'm lost in a dream
Brothers and sisters you know what I mean
You leave things open and get lost in the space
And you have to keep running to keep out of this race
. . .

It's late in the evening
And the weather is cold
I'm beginning to miss you
But that story's so old
I know I've been knocking
My head on the wall
And I must have been crazy
To leave
Oh yeah, yeah
Strange kind of blues coloured moon
Shines in the middle of my room.
Sometimes I'm burning
With a vision so bright
That it brings on the sunshine
In the middle of the night
And all those musical ladies
And the crazed young men
They are trying to make music
Together again? 0h no no
And a strange kind of blues coloured moon
Shines in the middle of my room.

It begins with a blessing
But it ends with a curse
Making life easy
But making it worse
My mask is my master
The trumpeter weeps
But his voice is so weak
As he speaks from his sleep
Saying
Why why why are we sleeping?
Now people are watching
People who stare
Waiting for something
That's already there
Tomorrow I'll find it
The trumpeter screams
Then remembers that he's hungry
And he drowns in his dreams
Singing
Why why why are we sleeping?
My head is a night club
With glasses and wine
But the customers dancing
They're just marking time
You can turn to your partner and say
How does it seem?
And she will look at you and say
Get out of my dream ...
Oh why why why are we sleeping?
Once I awakened my eyes filled with tears
I had been sleeping for thousands of years
Dreaming a life full of problems and sadness
Endlessly turning in spirals of madness
Where the wind blows
That's where it all goes
It follows the song
Like its dream ... singing ...
So it begins with a blessing
But it ends with a curse
Making life easy
But making it worse
Just turn to your partner and say
How does it seem?
He'll look at you and say
Get out of my dream
Why why why are we sleeping?

Ballbearing blues
Ballbearing blues
I'm gonna sing you some red herring news
If you don't wear shoes
You'll have no shoes to lose
And that's the end of the news
Rio.

a) Irreversible Neural Damage
If you wear this silver bonnet
I will sew my heart upon it
For this bonnet makes you seem
Like someone I met in a dream, a dream
I won't wear your silver bonnet
Not unless some gold's put on it
You can take your dreams back home
I have plenty of my own, my own
Tell me something distant sister
If I found my dream and kissed her
Would this vision of perfection
Turn into my own reflection
Who or what I am escapes me
Every changing minute shapes me
What I get is what I yearn for
Dreams are what I gladly burn for
In her cradle we have rocked her
Tended by the dreaming doctor
Now she waits in sleeping beauty
For some prince to do his duty
*
b) Invitation
Take your partners for the dance
Quick before you miss the chance
Make your loving while you can
Or she'll find another man ... who will
Losing someone makes you sad,
Makes you think that life is bad
So sad ... drives you mad ...
Once upon a time there was, so there is still,
Loving of a kind that rhymed here until
Doors began to close and love was left screaming
When life was diagnosed by the doctors of dreaming
*
c) The One Chance Dance
Take your partners for the dance
Quick before you miss the chance
Make your loving while you can
Or she'll find another man who will
Losing someone makes you sad
Makes you feel that life is bad
So sad, drives you mad
Once upon a time there was
So there is still
Loving of a kind
That rang here
Until doors began to close
And love was left screaming
When life was diagnosed
By the doctors of dreaming
La la la etc
(voice) 'and now , ladies and gentlemen,
There's just time to grab the nearest
Human being for the one chance dance!'
*
d) The Doctor Dream Theme
I take life
My knife
Cuts deep
Brings sleep
Watch out for doctor dream
I'll fill your skies with promise that you'll fly
And then I'll wake you up again
But soon I will return to feed on you
Watch out for doctor dream
Sweet child, watch out for doctor dream

Two goes into four
Two times no more
Two will make four
Blue goes into green
Mostly unseen
?ue becomes green
Dreams take me so far
Life is the star
Trapped in my jar
Go
Follow the wind
Open your heart
Then you may start
To make it
Better

She climbs up the stairs by the light of a candle
Then the door with no handle is closing behind her again
She places the light on a chair by the window
Says a prayer while the wind blows
And then in her bed clothes she hides
Now she's safe from the darkness
She's safe from its clutch
Now nothing can harm her
At least not very much
What will you dream of tonight Lady Rachel?
What will you dream of tonight?
Who will you dream of tonight Lady Rachel?
Who will you dream of tonight?
She climbs up a hill and is handed a parcel
Then she unwraps the parcel
And discovers a castle inside
The draw bridge is open
And a voice from the water
Says “Welcome my daughter'
"We've all been expecting you to come"
She climbs up the stairs with the light of a candle
Then the door with no handle is closing behind her again
Now she's safe from the darkness
She's safe from it's clutch
Now nothing can harm her
At least not very much
What will you dream of tonight Lady Rachel?
What will you dream of tonight?
Who will you dream of tonight Lady Rachel?
What will you dream of tonight?
Who will you dream of tonight Lady Rachel?
What will you dream of tonight?

On a railway train to anywhere,
Something happened finally.
The driver said he saw no station
And we were riding aimlessly.
The train was filled with sleeping passengers,
Going nowhere for the ride;
Spoken whispers filled the carriages
No one cared to look outside.
Conversation aimed at anyone
Bouncing questions off the wall;
Except for two excited children.
Burning caterpillars in the hall.
All at once, I got quite frightened..
Standing up, I gave a shout!
"I see a station just in front of me ,
Stop this train and let me out!"
The driver smiled and shook his head for me,
"This train don't stop for anyone.
And, if you want to leave this railway line,
You'll have to jump off on your own.
Someone came and gave me sandwiches,
Saying that I looked unwell.
He took my pulse and he gave it back to me,
And then he hit me with his bell.
He made a speech to all the passengers,
He said "I've been a place today;
And anyone who'd care to come with me..
Step outside and walk this way."
Inside the seats were warm and comfortable,
Outside the train was wild and strange.
I said, "Yes, sir, I'd like to come with you,
It's really time I made a change."
I left my seat and walked up front with him,
And he began to push the door.
I looked outside, but it nearly blinded me..
I'd never seen such light before.

After the music of the rock and roll show
I started walking out nowhere special to go.
I heard someone singing in a voice so sad,
This is what I heard her singing
Chorus
'who's going to take me home
After the show?
I'm feeling really lonely
And I've nowhere to go
Oh take me to your party
And I'll dance all night
And hold you tight till morning comes'.
I walked up to her, took her by the hand.
I said 'sad lady, yes, I understand
And I will stay with you if you want me to
And we can sing this song together'
Repeat chorus
After the music of the rock and roll show
I started walking home somewhere special to go
Our love grows stronger as time goes by
But we can still remember singing
Repeat chorus twice

If I sing something blue
Dedicated to you
Don't believe that I'm sad
Oh no I'm only dreaming
And the taste of your kiss
I remember and miss
But at least now I know
What it's like to have kissed you
And if you feel any pain
In this sleepy refrain
It's only my imagination
