Before you tell me how loud I can play my music
Before you tell me the way I should raise my keys
Before you try to tell me what to say
You might wanna think about it, yeah
Before you turn my family farming to a strip mow
Before you move another factory overseas
Before you go giving my job away
You might want to think about it, yeah
Think about this land that we live in
Of the rights we've been given
And people who die to make us free
Maybe you should stop thinking about the fight you've been picking
And the butt-kicking you'll get from me
You might want to think about it, yeah
Before you try to take away my ten commandments
Before you try to tell me when and where to play
Before you go messing with my fate
You might want to think about it, yeah
Think about the choice that you're making
And the stance that you're taking
Before you come rolling down my street
Maybe you should stop thinking about the fight you've been picking
And the butt-kicking you'll get from me
The eyes whipping you'll get from me
Before you go and try to take away my freedom
Before you go and try to take my voice away
Before you go and make a big mistake
You might wanna think about it
You might wanna think about
You might want to
You might want to

I remember the summer I turned sixteen
And that old jalopy Daddy gave to me
It had holes in the floor and just a 305
But I didn’t care ‘cause I could finally drive
There wasn’t much to do in my hometown
So every weekend night, we would all go down…
Chorus:
There were freaks and hippies in my high school
Football players all tryin’ to be cool
And everybody scramblin’ to hide their beer
When the cops drove by ‘til the coast was clear
Kids fallin’ in and out of love
On the hood of Chevys, in the beds of trucks
We were stumblin’ our way through life ‘til our senior year
But man we sure did learn a lot
In that Wal-Mart parking lot
She had long blond hair and sea-green eyes
The most beautiful thing I’d ever seen in my life
But I was young and dumb and didn’t have a line
And all I could say was, “Can I call ya’ sometime?”
She just said no and walked away
And that was the first time I felt my heart break
(Repeat Chorus)
Yeah, we all did a lot of livin’
It was small-town teenage heaven
(Repeat Chorus)
Well I had my first kiss, my first love
Got my ass kicked but I got back up
Lost my way, found it again
Had one long buzz and a dozen best friends
In that Wal-Mart parking lot
In that Wal-Mart parking lot

Miss me baby
When you hear our favorite song
Miss me baby
And when you start to sing along
Think about all the times that we danced
In the light to it all night long, oh
Then miss me baby
And want me honey
Like you did the night you told me that you loved me
We couldn't wait anymore, left the keys in the door
Took my hand, pulled me down on the kitchen floor
Yeah, we were that crazy
Miss me baby
(Chorus):
Because when he's holding you
Know that it's killing me
Let my memory be the reason girl
That you can't sleep
And every time you feel his touch
I pray to God it's not enough
And that I've touched your heart so deep
Girl you can't shake me
'Cause I love you, yes I need you
Miss me baby
Miss me baby
Until you can't take it no more
Miss me baby
Pack your bags and hit the door
I'm a man, I was wrong, forgive me
Come back home, I'll be waiting, right here waiting
Miss me baby
(Chorus)
And every time you feel his touch
I pray to God it's not enough
And that I've touched your heart so deep
Girl you can't shake me
'Cause I love you, yes I need you
Miss me baby
Every time you hear this song

I'm exausted
Tryin' to catch my breath the morning after
Pour my coffee
With Shakin' hands and my world in disarray
Lost in the softness and strength that's in her hands
I see her face and I can barely stand
But oh, the sweet redemption every time she mentions
That she wants me, oh, that she needs me, oh
(Chorus:)
Maria
Your kisses knock me over
Make me drunk and then leave me sober
They let me know that I'm a man
Maria
Your touch, it almost kills me
Then it turns around and heals me
I get lost and found again
In the arms of a woman that a mother gave the name Maria
Tender power
The gift she gives me gets me through the day
Midnight hour
I reach across the bed where she lay
Then I look up and see the moon dance on her skin
My heart starts poundin' once again
It's a sweet intoxication, a powerful frustration
How I want her, oh how I need her
(Repeat Chorus)
Maria
Your kisses knock me over
Make me drunk and then leave me sober
They let me know that I'm a man
Maria
Your touch, it almost kills me
Then it turns around and heals me
I get lost and found again
In the arms of a woman
In the arms of a woman that a mother
In the arms of a woman that a mother gave the name Maria
I'm exhausted
I'm still tryin' to catch my breath.
Maria
Oh Maria

Man I hate you found me here, whiskey on my breath
I know I should be ashamed, so much for those twelve steps
He said "No my son, I know you're doing your best
With all you've been through, I understand
I only came to offer you a friend
You know she still asks about you
Wondering how you're doing and where you've been
Tell her I'm in Tampa on the causeway, watching the waves roll in
Tell her I'm in Aspen, in a cabin, finding myself again
Tell her that I'm happy and I've moved on
Better than I've ever been
Just don't tell her that you saw me drowning in this bottle
Trying to make her disappear
Tell her I'm anywhere, anywhere but here
It would only break her heart if she knew the truth
You see I told her when she left, this is the last thing I would do
Tomorrow, I swear I'm starting over again
I've made it so far and I know where this ends
But she doesn't have to find out where I am
So if you see her or hear from her again
Tell her I'm in Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Selling cars five days a week
Tell her I'm in Mobile Alabama
Getting back on my feet
Tell her that I'm happy and I've moved on
Looking better than you've ever seen
Just don't tell her that you saw me drowning in this bottle
Trying to make her disappear
Tell her I'm anywhere, anywhere but here
Tell her that I'm happy and I've moved on
And let her know that I still care

I never thought that I was good enough To have the love
Of a woman like you
But you showed me I was man enough
With just one touch
In a way that only you could do
That's when my whole world started over
You loved the fool right outta me
And honey, would you believe
You still do that to me
'Cause I still hold you in my arms
When I dream at night and girl
I don't wake up in the morning
'Til ya' let me go
And in case I never told ya'
You were my whole world
Honey, I wrote this song
Just so you would know
Do you remember Jacksonville
'Cause I always will
No matter how hard I try to forget
I said a lot of hateful things
That I didn't mean
And have a lifetime left of regret
That's when my whole world
Came crashin' down
Like a fool I went and let you leave
And it knocked me to my knees
You still do that to me
'Cause I still hold you in my arms
When I dream at night and girl
I don't wake up in the morning
'Til ya' let me go
And in case I never told ya'
You were my whole world
Honey, I wrote this song
Just so you would know
So you would know
'Cause I still hold you in my arms
When I dream at night and girl
I don't wake up in the morning
'Til ya' let me go
And in case I never told ya'
You were my whole world
Honey, I wrote this song
Just so you would know
That everytime my heart beats
You still do that to me
Yeah honey, everytime I breathe
You still do that to me
Every night in my dreams
You still do that to me
Every time I think about you baby
You still do that to me
I still hold you, I still need you
when I'm sleepin' baby
That's when I see you
I still want you, I still need you
I still love you, you still do that to me
You still do that to me

I pulled up to a cattle guard
got out, opened up the gate
i drove down a long dirt road
to the banks of an old two- acre lake
they had bonfires and barbwire
fresh-caught catfish in the deep fryer
i jumped out my truck and said, it's on
and everybody sang
hey ya'll, break out the beer, turn the skynyrd on
hey ya'll, how ya doin'?
whatcha doin'?
hey ya'll, we ain't leavin' 'til they call the law
hey ya'll, hey ya'll, come on
a cloud of dust came rollin' in
blue lights flashin', there were ten of them
sheriff harper and all his boys
said all they had to do was just follow the noise
he dropped his gun, and then his star
reached in his cruiser, pulled out his guitar
said officer, what have we done wrong?
he just smiled at me a said, nothin at all, singin'
hey ya'll break out the beer, turn the skynyrd on
hey ya'll whatcha doin? how ya' doin?
hey ya'll crank it up, we ain't never goin' home
hey ya'll ,
hey ya'll watch this
see that girl over there lookin' fine
well, i betcha by morning i can make her mine
everybody sang
hey ya'll , break out the beer, turn the skynyrd on
hey ya'll watcha doin'?
baby, how'm i doin?
hey ya'll, we ain't leavin' til the law goes home
hey ya'll, hey ya'll, come on

C'mon baby, won't you take my hand
i wanna walk with you a while, and tell you whats been on my mind
i know this life can get crazy sometimes
and we forget about the most importantthings
i know i've been guilty of gettin' caught up
in the rush of today and the worries of tomorrow
but that ain't the point of my existance
no, that's not why i'm breathin'
chorus
oh i was made for you
for lovin' you baby
oh, i was made for you
for lovin' you, lovin' you
sun and rain and wind and sand
somehow came together to make this world we're livin' on
flesh and bone, i'm only human
but i know God had a plan for me
and it took me a while to figure it all out
i had to go down some roads i should've never gone down
but you were all the answers
to every question i was askin'
repeat chorus
like the glass that holds the wine
the sunset in the western skies
like the love there in your eyes
repeat chorus twice
i was made for lovin' you
c'mon baby, won't you take my hand
sun and rain, wind and sand
lovin' you
i was made for lovin' you
oh, i was made for you
. . .

It's all the same
Only the names changed
And everyday
It seems we're wastin' away
Another place
Where the faces are so cold
I drive all night
Just to get back home
Cuz I'm a cowboy
On a steel horse I ride
And I'm wanted dead or alive
Wanted dead or alive
Sometimes I sleep
Sometimes it's not for days
The people I meet
Always go thier seperate ways
Sometimes you tell a day
By the bottle that you drink
And times when you're alone
All you do is think
Cuz I'm a cowboy
On a steel horse I ride
And I'm wanted dead or alive
Wanted dead or alive
Well I'm a cowboy
On a steel horse I ride
And I'm wanted dead or alive
Wanted dead or alive
And I walk these streets
A loaded six sting on my back
I play ya'll
Cuz I might not make it back
I've been everywhere
Still I'm standin tall
I've seen a million faces
And I rocked them all
Yeah I'm a cowboy
On a steel horse I ride
And I'm wanted dead or alive
Wanted dead or alive
I'm a cowboy
I got the night on my side
And I'm wanted dead or alive
Wanted dead or alive
Wanted dead or alive
Wanted dead or alive
Wanted dead or alive
Wanted dead or alive
. . .

Well you can have the truck and the stuff
Baby, you can have the house
Yeah, you and your lawyer and your new boyfriend
Can all sort it out
What’s left of my pride and these two wheels are all I need
To take me away from somewhere I don’t wanna be
Baby I’m gone
When you read these words, I’ll be a blue of chrome
I wanna ride, watch the heat waves rise
I wanna feel the sun on my face and the wind in my hair
I’ll know where I’m goin’
When I get there
From what I hear, the beer is cheap down in Mexico
I wouldn’t mind bein’ where they speak a language I don’ know
The altitude of the Rockies might be what I need
If anybody eve asks about what happened to me
Tell ‘em I’m gone
When you read these words, I’ll be a blur of chrome
I wanna ride, watch the heat waves rise
I need to feel the sun n my face and the wind in my hair
I’ll know where I’m goin’
When I get there
And if I miss a turn, it won’t make a bit of difference
Baby, where we’re concerned, all I need is distance
Baby, I’m gone
I need to feel the sun on my face and the wind in my hair
I’ll know where I’m goin’
When I get there
Baby I’m gone
Ooh, gone
Oh, I’m going, yeah
I’m taking my heart and I’m hittin’ the road of these two wheels
Baby, I’m gone
Gone, gone, gone
Baby, I’m gone, gone, gone, yeah
. . .

In a crowd, in the dark
I would walk straight to your heart
Without any hesitation
Every turn, every town
Every highway I go down
Baby, you’re my destination
And even if nowhere was where every road lead me to
Chorus:
I’d find you
I’d find you
In the day or the night, in the black or the white
In the red of a rose of the depths of the ocean blue
I’d find you
Even if you and I
Never met, still I know I’d find
You among the millions
It’s beyond my control
Like a magnet pullin’ my soul
Across the great division
And even if I lost my way in this world I walk through
(Repeat Chorus)
All my life I need you next to me
‘Cause in your eyes I see my destiny
And I’d find you
Yeah I’d find you
In the face of a child, in the warmth of a smile
On the first day of spring when the flowers grow wild
Every song ever sung about bein’ in love
Every kiss, every hug, every touch
Anytime, anyplace, in the whole human race
In the sweet memories and the ones yet to be
In the wrong and the right and the beauty that lies in the truth
I’d find you
Yeah I’d find you
. . .
