The Bluetones
"Suffer In Silence"
I bought some pumps at Gemima's,
But they were rubbing and making me sore,
I just carried on smiling,
'Cause everybody dug the shoes that I wore,
I can suffer in silence,
If it means that I can blend with the crowd,
Suckin' suffer in silence,
But I wouldn't want to say it too loud.
They'll bill keen down at the bistro,
And I was broke it was the end of the week,
I just had coffee whilst you stuffed your face,
We went Dutch without so much as a squeak,
I can suffer in silence,
Suck it in and bottle it up,
Suckin' suffer in silence,
As you keep me staring aghast.
Every night I retire to the same chair,
By a phone that's attached to the wall,
And I hope that no one will call,
I'm not waiting for an invitation,
I'm not waiting for horrible news,
But the other shoe to fall.
I can suffer in silence,
If it means that I can blend with the crowd,
Suckin' suffer in silence,
But I wouldn't want to say it too loud.
Every night I retire to the same chair,
By a phone that's attached to the wall,
And I hope that no one will call,
I'm not waiting for an invitation,
I'm not waiting for horrible news,
Just the other shoe to fall.
