Lately the kidney has become weak and drier
The dwindling rabbit holes, the dream of the fire
I prick my ears up, I smell the scent
The flames blue and green
I've got my reasons too
I'm telling you all it's something true
And I can't call it my own
We'll stack the pyre, set it on fire, the smoke'll rise higher
Dry grasses burning, the embers are learning, the wind isn't turning
The rain isn't ready yet and I don't think we'll ever let this laburnum tree get wet
And you've got your reasons too
You're caught up in something true
The earth with it's bits of clay and bones of forefathers
Dampens more day by day and the seeds are soon smothered
The forest in disarray embraces new colours
I'm changing season too, yeah
I'm twisting in something true
And I can't call it my own
We'll stack the pyre, set it on fire, the smoke'll rise higher
Dry grasses burning, the embers are learning, the wind isn't turning
The rain isn't ready yet and I don't think we'll ever let this laburnum tree get wet
And you've got your reasons too
You're caught up in something true
And it's here we stand, it feels like home to me
The burnt wood ash scattered oh, so free
I've got my reasons too (I've got my reasons too)
I'm caught up in something true
And I can't call it my own
We'll stack the pyre, set it on fire, the smoke'll rise higher
Dry grasses burning, the embers are learning, the wind isn't turning
The rain isn't ready yet and I don't think we'll ever let this laburnum tree get wet
And you've got your reasons too
You're caught up in something true
